I know I've been pretty slack with my blogging lately so I am trying to catch up.
I had the chance to photograph the stunning and beautiful Ellen for a model portfolio (whom I've know since she was 6) and wow didn't this lady know how too rock her session and has been the only adult I've had so far that has wanted to use the kids little prop pink lounge and she pulled it off in style. I love Ellen's style and personality and she truly knows how to rock any pose I threw at her. Thank you to my wonderful professional hair & makeup team Taneka & Erin for another awesome job. Copyright Photography By Melissa Lee} Wednesday afternoon I got the chance to photograph Angel, Chris and their two beautiful girls, I was lucky enough to be able to photograph their wedding last year and wow the difference in Maddie being a little more grown up was amazing.
Both Maddie & Taylee are just beautiful and have that special bond that only sisters have, they had me laughing the whole time and Angel & Chris are always super fun to photograph with their playful nature towards each other. Yes we did bring the wind with us again just as we did on their wedding day but we had a blast anyway. { Please feel free to tag, comment or share my images, please don't crop or remove my watermark in anyway or apply filters to these images. These are photos you are going to hang on your walls and cherish for years to come. It can seem overwhelming when considering what to wear but it doesn’t need to be. Use these tips to help you pick out the perfect wardrobe for you and your family. What to wear in family photo's. 1. Coordinating colors not matching. Long gone are the days of everyone wearing a white shirt and matching. Instead, pick a couple of colors and choose clothes that will fit in this color scheme. 2. Look at your home decor. Do you like bright colors? Neutrals? Since you will be hanging these photos in your house you want to make sure the colors of your clothes go with the color scheme of your home. 3. Don’t forget accessories. Accessories not only add to your outfit but they can be fun to use in photos. Have the man wear a tie for the woman to hold. Necklaces for the kids to play with or hats to hide behind. 4. Limit patterns. Personally, I enjoy having an outfit in the mix that has all the colors in it. However, not everyone in the photo should wear patterns as it may distract the final image. 5. Look for clothing collections. When shopping for clothes for my kids, I head to stores that typically have color coordinating collections. I can then purchase clothes for all the children from one store. I know their clothes will coordinate. 6. Plan ahead. Once you book your session, start thinking of the clothes right away. You may think certain clothes will fit your kids or that one dress is clean. If you wait until the day of or day before you may run into an issue of clothes not fitting, being dirty or need to be dry cleaned. 7. Say no to characters. Yes, your little one may love their Toy Story shirt but you may want to skip it for the family photo session. Just like patterns, characters on shirts can be pretty distracting. 8. Avoid all white or all black clothing. If you are wearing an all white shirt then it is very easy to blow out parts of your shirt causing it to lose its detail. Same can be said with all black, it’s easy to have clipping on black clothing and the detail is lost. 9. Textures are your friend. I am a huge fan of a cotton fitted shirt. However, in photographs I like to add textures like scarves or belts to add a little more to the image. Don’t shy away from different textures. 10. Consider your background. If you are taking photos in front of a backdrop, consider what you are wearing. I remember and image my sister, her husband and newborn son took where they were all wearing black in front of a black backdrop. She and her husband look like floating heads holding a baby. 11. Think classic. These photos will be hanging on your walls and treasured for years to come. By choosing simple, classic clothes you will help give your images a timeless feel. Kristy came into the session with her own strong fun ideas and instead of my bright colors she wanted a darker feel too her images, I am pretty sure we cover that, I did throw a little bit of color in. Kristy is based on the Mid North Coast of NSW, you can find her doing the most amazing pieces of art on people's bodies at Wildfire in Port Macquarie but be sure too book quick as she books out. Thank-you for allowing me too shoot this fun session and I hope you all enjoy them. Mel I've just started offering Tween sessions and what a way to start it off by than with the gorgeous Miss Abby, it was a freezing winter afternoon but despite being cold Abby still rocked her session.
She had decided she wanted an outdoor country theme session so off to location we went and were super blessed with this horse decided to see what was going on and pop his head out, perfect! Thankyou Miss Abby for the wonderful session :) You might remember earlier this year I ran a "Pay it forward" glamour session give away, I was flooded with deserving people and the stories that loved one's or friends had written too me, it was simply too hard too chose on my own so I enlisted the help of my makeup artist Erin too help chose.
As we sat down to read through all the emails we managed to narrow it down to three deserving ladies, than two and than one, I think it was one of the harder choices I've had too make as I normally leave these giveaways and competitions up to a random choice draw so thankyou Erin for helping me. Kimmy's had recently under gone a round of chemo and had not been feeling "pretty" or so too speak, the week before I decided to run this give away Kimmy's niece Emily whom had nominated her had just had a conversation about wanting to feel pretty again and get dressed up, and what a perfect away to do so, myself and my team were so blessed to of been able to work with this amazing inspiring women and I was brought too tears with her lovely words, "I was so lucky to be chosen for the "pay it forward" photo session, wow where do i start,i have nothing but praise for these women who worked their magic on me. After months of chemo,my hair has started to grow back but its still hard at times to look at my reflection,i was a little nervous but the atmosphere as soon as you enter Mel's studio is so comfortable, everyone there is so friendly and chat...ty it just relaxed me straight away.I don't wear make up or get dressed up so this was fun to be pampered and have Erin do my make-up and Taneka somehow managed to do something magic to my hair to make it look better. And meanwhile Mel just knew what outfits i should where and how i should pose and clicked that camera at all the right angles and at all the right times.I have to say i left her studio on such a high, the session just boosted my confidence so much and i hadn't even seen the photo's yet.Lucky for me she posted a few photo's and i was so overwhelmed,i really couldn't believe that it was me ! and you only have to see the response on my facebook page to see everyone else's reaction,at last count i had 64 "likes" and about 52 "comments" all this in a space of an hour !!! i highly recommend having photo's done by Mel and your make-up and hair done by erin and tanika, spoil yourself and get the whole package its worth it.A thousand thank you's to Mel,Erin and Taneka" Thankyou for allowing myself to capture you and your beautiful nature and wow what a knock model you look I was completely blown away with her natural model ability and amazing features, just look at her eye WOW! If you know someone who you thinks deserves a makeover glamour session send them my way or better yet I have gift vouchers up for purchase surprise them, I love nothing better than seeing these women walk out of my studio feeling a thousand times better and more confident than they were when they walked in. Enjoy Mel x I have been wanting too get this blog up since I first had my website built but with the craziness of the last few months I haven't had a chance, but finally here it is.
Last year I had the opportunity to shoot so many amazing weddings and meet so many wonderful couples, this once stuck out the most, as I was ask to shoot a very small imitate wedding to take place on a Monday, I was surprised and excited as id only ever done large weddings and had never experienced anything like this. The day came around and there were storm clouds everywhere, my heart sank as it was too take place at the top of North Brother Mountain in Laurieton NSW, down through the forest lookout (I had never seen this lookout before and I had gone up this mountain loads of times), as the time approached for the time for the ceremony to start and I walked with their family down the forest path too the lookout I was in awe of this beautiful place, and thought "how can I off lived her for so long yet never known this place was here", we arrived down too the lookout and my gosh it was breath taking even with the storm clouds and rain threating too cancel it there and then, but all went ahead. I watch the beautiful Cheryl walk down the rainforest path with her dad on her arm to the man of her dreams and husband too be Angus, and with only 13 people on total to watch these two become husband & wife it was magic, I am pretty sure I cried along with the family as I too experienced the joy, love, laughter and all the emotions their family felt, I felt truly blessed too be there and be apart of this. Once the ceremony had finished we than had enough time too grab a couple of family photos and than that was it, it started pouring so off we rain into the shelter of the rainforest, camera and umbrella in hand. Although we all got drenched and so did my camera I managed to capture the most stunning pictures of this couple so every deeply in love with each other. When than made the bolt for it back up the path through the pouring rain to where their families were waiting, with my though being "were are we going to go now since the beach is out of the question"! Yes of course the old historical building in Laurieton it not only offered us shelter but some beautiful old vintage charm which went perfect with the rest of the theme of their wedding, but just as we were about too leave the heavens stop raining long enough for us too grab some photo's on the mountain road and WOW is all I can say, this most an amazing experience and I loved it. Thankyou to both Cheryl & Angus for allowing me to share in and capture your very special day. Mel x I had the most AMAZING session with Taneka & her mum, it was a chance for them both too get all pampered with Hair & makeup and create some beautiful lasting memories of them both, even more special now taneka is also a mum to a cute little boy Master Peter. Tankea's mum Debra was amazing she came into this session with no real expectations and walked out of my studio feeling a million dollars (and looking it too might I add) I only hope I look as amazing as this Nanna does. If your lucky enough to experience one of these pamper sessions, you'll get the chance to meet miss Taneka as she is our studio hair dresser and a wonderful women too, you will fall in love with her beautiful personality as Erin and I both have. I cant wait too see one of these images hanging as a large canvas in your salon Miss Tankea :-) I can not forget to put some images up of Tankea's little man Mater Peter 3.5 months and oh how he is going to make the girls swoon when he's older.
I just love the faces he pulls, he cracks me up here are just a few for you all xo Earlier this year not only did I have the lovely Elise and her bump along for a mentoring session with Alaine form Alaine Ylais Photography I also have some of Alaine's friends volunteer to help out Katie & Sam, they were awesome and stuck it out though the mozzies and all.
I had so much fun with these guys and you can see just how much they are in love with each other. Thankyou guys for helping out :-) Mel x |
